Fern was born October 8, 1926, at New Underwood, SD, to Valdamar and Minnie (Ibsen) Knapp. She had seven children and worked hard providing for a strong traditional family.

Fern Lillian Elliott, 91, Sturgis, died Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Sturgis Regional Senior Care.

Her family includes Judy (Jack) Stransky, Jerry (Dianne) Jacobs, Sandra (Gordon) Nissen, Janet (Chuck) Carlson, Albert Smith, Yvonne (Gary) Hulet, and Frank (Carolyn) Smith; and one stepson, Rusty Elliott. Survivors also include numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene Knapp; and two sisters, Orphie Hershey and Irene Klueber.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dean; one infant brother, Charles; and one infant granddaughter, Katie Smith.

Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
