Billie Jean Baker

June 16, 1948 - August 30, 2013

Donna and Jim Bares

Sturgis, SD

Dear Ed, Harold, Gene and family, Our thoughts and prayers have been with you during this difficult time and we extend our deepest sympathy. I will always cherish the memories of when Billie Jean and I were young. Our parents would get together to play cards and visit and we would go upstairs to play and visit. Fishing in their big dam was always a great time. We caught lots of fish and would clean them by the shop and have a fish fry. We had many great times at the country dances at Union Center too. Her 4-H exhibits were always great and she prided herself in sewing the very best she could. Her years of making her own clothes show how much she loved to sew. When we were in high school we double dated a few times and they were wonderful times. Ranching was always her passion and she loved being around and working with livestock. Ed, you were her knight in shining armor from the first time you met. You made her complete and her love for you was unconditional. We pray that your memories will help you through the days ahead.

I haven't see Billie Jean in years; but I will never forget her as being a member of SHS Class of '66. I'm sure her family is crushed with her passing. I'm so sorry.

Ed, Harold, & Gene, I am glad I was able to know your wife & mom. Super person. Hard working. One of the last true Ranch women. I greatly enjoyed a few rides in the fuel truck with her. Great conversations. I am sure she will be missed by many. Chance

To Billie Jean's family, I had no idea that Billie Jean was ill. So, the cancer came back. It wasn't that long ago I heard from her...I so wish I had known. I will never forget our memories from Sturgis High School, and walking to school. I was hoping we could get together sometime, as we had emailed and talked, off and on, the last few years. She will be missed. So, sorry Ed and boys.
