September 18, 1937 - January 28, 2018

Dennis W. Salmon

Yorktown, VA

John will be surely missed by all who had flown or met this great man. He gave me my first operational check ride in the 4ACCS and I learnt so much from him while in the squadron. God Bless his family.

David A Dumpe

Richmond Hill, GA

What a great guy! Always gentle, humble, and helpful to us younger guys. I remember that I had to give HIM a check ride shortly after he arrived at the 4th ACCS. Rather intimidating. He got an HQ, one of few I ever gave. We also shared a birthdate. Great memories of a real gentleman.

Richard Hodges

Terry MS

What a true professional. I knew John when we were stationed together at the 4ACCS. I always enjoyed talking to him and having him tell me stories of his Air Force career. He enjoyed teaching navigators as well as pilots. He was a true officer and a gentleman. RIP John.

Janet (Reed) Hamman

Liberty, IN

I always looked up to my big brother and was very proud of him. May he rest in peace. His loving sister, Janet

Wilfred R. Moore

Los Lunas, NM

I was only a young airmen out of boot camp in December 1985 when John was at Ellsworth. It was an honor to fly missions with our officers even though we were in separate compartments. May God Bless him and the Reed Family.

Brianne Ballantyne Lowert

Independence, KY

Growing up in Northwesr Indiana alongside John were his sisters Janet and Sandra and first and second Ballantyne cousins: Elmer, John Kenneth, Dianne, Susanne, Elin, Dee, Brianne, Alexander, Bobby, Jackie, Shirley and Raymond. To us John Morgan Reed was Johnnie Mo, he was loved by all of us and as he lived his life he made us proud. Loosing Johnnie Mo is a loss of a great Ballantyne.
