Carolyn,Jeane and Larry, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Squire. He was a wonderful neighbor and friend. He will dearly be missed by our family.
You will never find a better man. He always, always, had time to say hello and always had that warm smile on his face that was as bright as the sunshine and made everything seem like it was going to be ok, regardless of the circumstances. I am sure that the angels were singing as they welcomed Squire home. God Speed my friend.
Larry and Family - my thoughts are with you as you say goodby to Mr. Squire - the man with the smile. Blessings in the coming days as you will experience memories.....Marlys
We send our condolences to Squire's family and we stand among the many who mourn his loss. We met Squire through the Fire Service and, through those years, we looked forward to and fully enjoyed his company at many fire schools and other gatherings. Squire was a true gentleman, a credit to his family and his community and a role model for us all. Rest in peace Squire, there aren't many like you.
There is a very large hole in the fire world today. Squire was in all ways a true gentleman. Always with a smile, a handshake and no matter who you were, rookie firefighter or old vetern, Squire would talk with you. It was always a delight when Squire showed up. He just made fire school a delight. He will always be in our thoughts and the family in our prayers.

I stayed with Squire and Evelyn for Jr and Sr year of High School and I have to say he was the most wonderful second DAD any one could ever ask for. He influence me to go to work for the VA 36 years ago and it was some of the best advice I could have ever had. He was such a wonderful man. He will be missed.
I will miss your smile and your quick wit. Rest in Peace.

Carolyn, Jean and Larry, I am so sorry for Squire's loss. He and Evelyn were the most wonderful neighbors a person could ask for. My family and I will truly miss him - chats in the back yard - chats in the front yard - hunting with the nephews and Chris - fire events with Chris and Adam - bringing Grandma to brandings and then pitching in to help - rally folks and all the neighborhood considerations. My heart is breaking for your loss and ours. Your Dad will be missed. God Speed my friend!
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Squire will be missed by all of us here at Dorsett Healthcare Center.
To Squire's Family, I first met Squire through my husband's work at Ft. Meade. I always considered him the most kind, caring and compassionate man I ever met. He was a true GENTLEMAN, and will be greatly missed.

Carolyn, Jean, Larry & families You are much in our thoughts since we became aware of the sad news. Always enjoyed your father so very much ... such a fun guy. It seems that regardless of circumstance, even though one may have carefully considered and thoughtfully prepared for that which is inevitable, death shocks and startles ... the trauma is profound and dramatic ... perhaps because nothing else is quite so final. Several years ago, upon an occasion such as this, we received a note from Dr. Hamm, which yet remains in our memory. It went something like this: WORDS MAY SEEM EMPTY NOW ... HAVE A HOLLOW RING. BUT PERHAPS THE REASSURANCE OF FRIENDS WHO CARE ... WHOSE THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU NOW ... MAY HELP TO LIFT YOUR SPIRITS TODAY We trust that the concern and love of friends and family will help to brighten this day and those to follow. Hopefully, will see you on Thursday. If not, will be with you in spirit. Love, Elaine & Howare
he will be very well missed.. he is now with my grandpa talking about the good old days...
Squire was such a nice guy and took time to visit. At Dairy Queen, he would wave me over and ask me if we still had any of them "Dilly Bar things." We would sit around and talk like old friends; I will always remember him. Rest peacefully, buddy!
Our family was most saddened by the passing of Squire. We will always remember our wonderful visit to the Broel home after moving from Hawaii in 1970 and all the delightful Xmas newsletters we received over the years. Our family has been blessed and fortunate to have the Broels as part of our extended family. We will miss hearing about his adventures. Rest in peace. Carolyn, Ed, Lisa % Chris Amaral (Sister of Jackie Broel)
Thoughts are with you and your family at this time. Losing a parent is hard anytime, even when it is time for them to go to their heavenly home and we will be with them again someday. A void is with us just the same. Prayers for all.
Dear Family, Sorry to hear of Squire's passing. What a great guy. He'll be missed by many. Make sure that you all give each other the "Squire Handshake" for a good long time. Love, Jim Hoyt and Family

Dear Carolyn, Tom, and family. I send my sincere condolences. Squire was a wonderful man and I have so many good memories of him. Playing with green plastic army men in their house, hunting with him, and the stories he told. I'm thinking of you and wish I could be there. Love, John

Carolyn and Tom, Larry and Jacque, Jean and Alfred, and families -- So sorry to learn of Squire's passing. We'll all miss him, but we'll treasure the many memories of a good natured guy with a wonderful sense of humor. Squire and Evelyn were such gracious hosts to our family -- whether on hunting trips, vacationing in the Hills, or going to the Fourth of July rodeo in Belle Fourche. What wonderful times and memories of Squire and Evelyn! We'll keep you in our prayers that you will find commfort and peace in your memories of a great guy!
So sorry to hear of your father's passing. It is one of the hardest things in life to lose the last parent. I am still grieving over the loss of my father two and a half years ago. They become your "rock." Especially when you have such a warm and loving family as we did. I wish you and your families the best. Hugs, Marcia
The world would have no conflict if it was populated with "Squires". Your dad was a true example of a man of integrity and compassion.
Your Father and Grandfather was one of the sweetest guys I have ever met, he always knew a person and had to visit awhile when ever I seen him, Gene and my Grandson really enjoyed him out hunting and in recent years when he shot a deer Gene would load it on the four wheeler and haul it out for him which he really appreciated. Hang on to the memories of a very Special man. Mary Jorensen
Our deepest sympathy goes out to the the family. Squire was a wonderful man with a huge heart and smile! He will be greatly missed.
Squire was a faithful and beloved member of the SD NARFE Federation and Northern Hills NARFE Chapter. His friendly smile and greetings will be missed by all. Bernie and Peg Christner

To Carolyn, Larry and Jean, Please know that caring thoughts and heartfelt sympathy are with each of you. I am the oldest daughter of Stanley & Ruth Borszich and I think Larry and I were in the same grade??. We all had so much fun with the Broels. Let's remember the smiling, laughing, talking and sharing of Squire. Squire & Evelyn raised a wonderful family. The article was very nice and it brought back some good memories.
Im reading all the memories here from folks Squire knew.. He was such a caring loving man, he always greeted me with a smile and hug when I'd go to clean the house, I enjoyed looking at all his pictures from his 90 th birthday party..He was a very special man and I too will miss him... I did try to call (you) Caroline but maybe I have the wrong number.. What a wonderfull man your dad was...
Just a note to let you all know that I have been thinking about you today. Guess Squire and Huffy can fight the fires in heaven together. Take care all of you
Once again one of South Dakota's finest has left our firefamily. It is with great sadness that we remember all the wonderful memories of Squire and his accomplishment with the fire service. He is definitely one wonderful human being and top-notch fireman. May God be with you and your loved ones as you continue this difficult journey. Larry & Mindee Johnson
Such a wonderful man....he will be missed. I remember Squire and Evelyn when I was growing up. He would always make me smile. My sympathies to his family. Teresa
I knew Squire when we both worked at Ft. Meade. It was always a pleasure to run into him when we were both retired. What a gentleman and genuinely nice guy. He will be missed, but we will meet him again in Paradise.
I have so many great memories of Squire. I remember growing up in Sturgis and my dad worked in the supply warehouse at Fort Meade and I always enjoyed the comaraderie and friendship between those workers. They joked, laughed, gave the shirt off their back for each other. I would see Squire over the years at many meetings and functions and always enjoyed visiting with him. He always had a kind word for everyone and everything. He will be greatly missed and hold true to the many fond memories he gave us all.
To The Squire Broel Family: Our Condolences to you all. Squire was a very dear friend to our Mom & Dad. They had many fond memories. From Henry Malik & Family
